Ingredients
- 2 pounds chicken, cut into pieces
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp seasoned salt
- Black pepper, to taste
- 2 tsp Dap’s Blackened Seasoning
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 3–4 drops hot sauce (to taste)
- 2 cups waffle mix
- 1 1/4 cups water (or as directed on mix)
- About 2 cups vegetable oil (for frying)
- 2 tbsp butter (for serving)
Directions
- Rinse chicken and pat dry with paper towels.
- In a bowl, whisk eggs and milk together. Soak chicken in the mixture for 5–10 minutes.
- In another bowl, combine flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, seasoned salt, pepper, and blackened seasoning.
- Mix maple syrup with hot sauce to your preferred heat level and set aside.
- Prepare waffles according to package instructions.
- Heat oil in a skillet to 350°F.
- Remove chicken from milk mixture and coat thoroughly in the flour mixture.
- Fry chicken in batches, avoiding overcrowding, until golden brown and fully cooked through, turning once.
- Transfer to a rack or paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Season lightly with additional blackened seasoning if desired.
- Serve chicken over waffles, topped with butter and the maple hot sauce drizzle.
