Lentil and Rice Chili Parm Bowls
A warm, budget-friendly bowl you can build from pantry staples

Lentils and rice make a steady base for weekday dinners. They simmer together, soften at the same pace, and take on flavor easily. With a spoonful of Shawhan Farms Calabrian Chile and Roasted Garlic Parmesan Seasoning the pot develops a warm, savory depth without pulling out extra jars. Once the grains and lentils are tender, you can top the bowl with whatever vegetables you have on hand. The whole idea is flexible and comes together quickly on busy nights.

Ingredients

For the pot:

  • 1 cup brown or green lentils, rinsed
  • 1 cup rice (white or brown)
  • 4 cups water or broth
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon chile garlic parm blend
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 clove garlic, minced

For the bowls:

  • A handful of greens, fresh or frozen
  • Any cooked vegetables you have on hand
  • Lemon wedges
  • Extra seasoning for finishing

Use whatever vegetables are nearby. Roasted carrots, broccoli, spinach, peas, or shredded cabbage all work well. Leftover roasted vegetables are ideal here.

Instructions

  1. Start the pot: Warm the olive oil in a medium pot over medium heat. Add the garlic and cook for about a minute.
  2. Add lentils, rice, seasoning, and water: Stir in the lentils, rice, the chile garlic parm blend, and a light pinch of salt. Pour in the water and bring to a gentle simmer.
  3. Cook until tender: Cover and cook until both the lentils and rice are soft. White rice cooks faster, brown rice takes longer, so check and add a splash of water if needed.
  4. Prep the vegetables: While the pot cooks, warm or cook whatever vegetables you are using. A quick sauté, a tray of leftovers, or microwaved frozen vegetables all work well.
  5. Build the bowls: Spoon the lentil and rice mixture into bowls, add vegetables, squeeze a little lemon over the top, and finish with a pinch of the seasoning for a warm, rounded flavor.

How the flavor comes together

The chile garlic parm blend brings warmth, roasted garlic depth, and a subtle parmesan note that helps the lentils and rice taste fuller without extra ingredients. Lentils and rice complement each other nutritionally, which is one more reason the bowl is hard to beat. The seasoning does the heavy lifting here, keeping the pot simple while still tasting complete.
